Flagler, MUD PIT October 8 Well this one was a little interesting. It was VERY, VERY, wet and MUDDY.Ugh! What a time on the practice lap. Kid you not, the mud on parts of thecourse was 6-10 inches deep. What do you do in that case? Hop off the bikeand run. Perry here doesn't enjoy running. That's why I ride bikes! So Idon't have to run! Hehe, anyways... The start was pretty spectacular for me. I had a great start. Probablythe best pick up I've ever had. I've been practicing trying to get in andout my clipless pedals (new thing for me). Okay so I'm on the line, gota big grin on my face 'cause it's now starting to rain again. I'm literallystarting to laugh. Oh what wonderful conditions I'm thinking. Get on theline, the horn blows. As I mentioned, had a great start. Got clicked inand was hauling ass. In fact I think I had to of had at least a minute leadover everyone else on the line. But, ummm...there is one thing I haven'tquite learned in this sport. I wasn't pacing myself for the whole course.*laugh* Got into the mudd and was walking along. Next thing you know these guys are running right by me with there bikes. --Did I mention that I hate running?-- I take it okay, I'm new...I'm an idiot!!! But anyways...So thatwas my spectacular start. Got to the end and saw someone from my class rightin front of me. Also saw Mike standing on the sidelines yelling at me togear down, stand and start sprinting. So I did that (don't know where theenergy came from). And I sprinted...made it by the guy in front of me andmanaged to snag another position right at the finish. And that was my spectacularend.
